.I wonder just how many people we know really think about Easter and what the true meaning of Easter is all about. I do not beleave that you will find the word Easter in the Bible. I looked the word up in my little dollar Webster Dictionary and here is what it says,,,Easter is a Christian Festival that celebrates the resurrection of Christ.
When our little boys were growing up I tried to remind them that Easter was not just about the Easter Bunny and them getting a great big basket of candy eggs and hunting the eggs that the adults had hidden for them to find. I would explain to them that all this was actually to remember the the risen Savior, Jesus the Christ, His death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day.
At our little church we usually have a Passover Dinner to observe the Jewish Passover and the real meaning of Easter.
Jesus says do this in rememberance of Me. The Lords Table or Holy Communion.
The first recorded Easter observance is in the book of Acts Ch. 12:3 (niv). When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during The Feast of Unleavened Bread. Verse 4 in the book of Acts goes on to call this feast the Passover.
I am so thankful that God sent his Son Jesus to be our Passover Lamb, are you thankful too?
