Calhoun Baptist Church News, April 8, 2012 Easter Sunday~
Rev. Jordan Hodges, Pastor

Oh, what a glorious day to be in the house of God! We are children of a Living Savior!
Brother Jordan welcomed a Sanctuary full of Worshipers this morning! A lot of them had been in attendance for the wonderful Easter Breakfast at 8:30 A.M. It was wonderfully prepared by the men in our Brotherhood, with Brother Jim Bilbruck being the Chief Cook! The children had a wonderful time finding hundreds of Easter Eggs on the front lawn. Oh what joy the children are as they seek out everyone of them! It is our prayer that they seek the ways of the Lord as fervently as they are growing up in Christ believing families.

We were blessed with Special Music by Miss Victoria Barrow who played an Easter Special on the piano! We all enjoyed it very much!
All of the G.A. Girls have been making a Paper Chain during the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. The girls were planning on putting a message of thankfulness on each link of the chain. The goal this year is $200.00. We now need only $78.50 to reach our goal. That is a lot of links with one for each 10 cents offered. There were so many links that it would have been entirely too difficult to put a message on each link of the chain. The GA. Leader, Sister Heather Hollinger assisted them with bringing the chain all though out the Sanctuary while G.A. Leader, Sister Shonda Self read the long list of many things the girls are thankful for on this special day remembering the Resurrected Lord Jesus.

Brother Jordan’s message today was about how God wants us to be perfect. You will find Gods Standard for us to live by in the book of Matthew Ch.5, with verse 48 being the Key Scripture this morning.

Matthew 5:48 (NIV)
48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

It says to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. He knew that we could not meet His standard of living, so He sent His Son Jesus, the only person that was perfect to be our Sacrificial Lamb. He took our place on the cross that we may have everlasting life, when we have a Personal Relationship with Him.

Palm Sunday~

Is your heart filled with gratitude this Palm Sunday? "So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!' ” (John 12:13).

Christian apologetics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Biblical motivation

Several biblical passages have historically motivated Christian apologetics.

R.C. Sproul, quoting the First Epistle of Peter (3:15), writes that "The defense of the faith is not a luxury or intellectual vanity. It is a task appointed by God that you should be able to give a reason for the hope that is in you as you bear witness before the world."[3] The verse quoted here reads in full: "but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect."

Another passage sometimes used as a Biblical basis for Christian apologetics is God's entreaty in the Book of Isaiah: "Come now, let us reason together" (1:18).[4][5]

Other scriptural passages which have been taken as a basis for Christian apologetics include Psalm 19, which begins "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands," and Romans 1:20, which reads "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."[6]
