Faith Joseph's Story: A Novel and Christian Bible Study by Sandra Lea Hardage

I want to begin my review by saying this is an excellent book to read. It is an easy to understand way of telling a wonderful story from the Bible. Joseph was his father Jacob's favorite son, the youngest of the family then of eleven sons. He was not only his favorite son he gave him a special coat. His mother died giving life to his little brother whose name was Benjamin. This caused his father to show him even more favoritism. Most of us have known about this story from our childhood Bible Schools and other Bible Studies we have had in our lives. Faith-Joseph's Story is a different view of Joseph's life. It is written in the first person making the first half of the book a novel about the life, faith and Gods plan and purpose for Joseph. Also a way to help others and to help his family. Jealousy and envy among brothers then is like it is today with brothers and sisters in some families. Joseph was very prideful when he was young causing his brothers to hate him. Latter in his life he learned to depend upon the God of his fathers "YHWH" to forgive him and God had caused him to have a forgiving heart toward his brothers. He had forgiven them for the evil thing they did to him. We can learn a lot from this story in how to live our life to serve others. The author has put a section in her book on how to become a Christian and an example of how to pray the sinners prayer. Faith is the ability to receive the will of God. Joseph's life is an example of what a Christ-like person should be today and everyday of our life! The second half of the book is a Bible Study based upon the story of Joseph. You can do this study as a group or as an individual Bible study.

Here is my Review~ I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a six week study with five study days for each week. The object of the book is to help us realize just what the things are we have in our lives that can be considered idols or gods These gods keep us from spending valuable time in worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It could be our cell phones, computers, television or any other thing we do instead of keeping our selves true to our commitment in serving God and developing our gifts the Lord has given us to do his service. This study can help you experience the Lord and his ways like you have never been able to do before. You can read the book and do the different studies each week by yourself as I have or you can share the experiences with a group. There is a "Leaders Guide" for a six week Bible Study using the writers examples or you can make your own for each day in the six different weeks. She suggests opening each session with a prayer and prayer request. It is a very informal study and I believe I would like to lead a group of ladies and use this book. When we accept Jesus as our Savior,,,,that is not the end of it. We must turn from our worldly ways and strive to keep our hearts and mind upon what is important to being a Christ-server.

Narrated by Joseph himself, FAITH Joseph’s Story communicates the power of this young man’s faith-faith that began in the midst of a plot to murder him and ends with his rise to power in Egypt. It show the perseverance one must find to overcome the negative experiences that happen in life, and it provides a testament to the importance of placing complete faith and trust in God. With Bible study materials and a leader’s guide included, FAITH-Joseph’s Story is not only a novel from Joseph’s perspective but also a Bible Study in God’s Word and is written for the individual or small group study.
