Lesson 12-The Name of Jesus Forbidden~

Acts 4:13-22

The Name of Jesus Forbidden

Summary

The rulers of the time just didn’t know what to do with Peter and John. They saw their boldness and they felt that Peter and John were uneducated and untrained men and they marveled by the influence they had over the people.

They saw the man who was healed standing with Peter and John and the rulers could say nothing. They knew that a miracle had taken place and they couldn’t deny that. So they decided to severely threaten them that from then on they could not speak to anyone in the name of Jesus.

So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

Questions?

1. So what did the rulers do next? They commanded them to not speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

2. Why did they choose to do this? They didn't want the news of what Jesus had done to spread any more than what it had ready.

3. How old was the man that was healed? He was over forty years old.
